Do any of you guys have a blog?

    • I have a friend who wanted to start a forum. This idea has now developed a little and is now beginning to look as though a blog would better suit her needs.

Do any of you have blogs, do you use RT templates and if possible, can you show me your blogs so I can get an idea of what is possible with Joomla and RT.

Or can you pont me in the right direction for a blogging solution?

      Thanks a lot

    • Hi, blogging in Joomla is fairly simple. The setup can all be done from the default Joomla settings and all of our themes have styling for the elements. You just need to create a category blog layout and make the parameter settings for date, author, ECT in the article manager as you like.

This is my blog, uses a customized RT theme. It's a bit old and outdated, running 1.5 and is overdue for an update, but it was way easy to set up. I also use some of the default Joomla modules on the side to provide navigation to posts. There is a lot more you could do.

    • Everything on mine is default styling from the Radiance theme. It's probably not a great example because it's J1.5 and uses JomComments, which I absolutely do not recommend unless you like getting spammed to death.

I honestly haven't updated my website for 2 years, I have new version coming soon. If you can provide a link to your site I can help point you in the right direction.

    • Hi, I took a look. Looks like you have the page set up right, category blog or similar. What's going wrong for you is you're not clearing your floated images. Any time you float an image, or anything for that matter, in your content - the image is removed from the "flow" so it's height doesn't affect the containing element. At the very bottom of your articles add this code:
      <div class="clear"></div>
That will help it not be so bunched up. I wrote this article awhile back that explains this concept in more detail, it might help you understand what's going on (see floats and clear section): www.rockettheme.com/magazine/1406-basic-...tion-and-positioning

Once you have the menu item set up, you can go into the menu item settings and turn on the email / print buttons, date, category ECT and manipulate the meta settings in the menu item itself - on the right side of the menu item editor, all the options are in those panels. Play with them to see what will work. You can turn on the read more buttons or use them, but only if you have enough content to break up into 2 pages, otherwise it doesn't make much sense to do that. Hope that helps.
