    • Hello Rocketeers! =)

I am at my wits end launching this NCAA recruiting site... I have been installing, backing up, restoring, uninstalling, screaming, yelling, backing up, restoring, etc etc... It's a never ending cycle...

My goal is to have a subscription based site, using my old data from the first site... Basically, I back up the old site, port the old database and website (I have a ton of existing CB profiles I need to salvage... Restoring on a fresh install doesnt work well at all...)

JACL has bombed my site every time, or does not even work as it should, and I think it interferes with AEC.... This is starting to REALLY make me mad, because everytime I think I am getting somewhere, I have to restore my last known good backup, manually uninstall the JACL component, and cross my fingers... Does anyone have any tips regarding this? How does this site do it?

Is there a way to AVOID JACL and do the different groups manually, or should I just go cheesy and set AEC up to work with the special groups like author, publisher, etc...

I also have SM2 email marketing installed, CB 1.02 (can't get the 1.1 upgrade to work without bombing my list of users), and I would like to use Seycret to control highlight reel videos for the athletes...

I tried JUGA, but can't seem to figure out how it even works, or how to make AEC work with it... This site seems to work great so what's the secret? I HAVE to launch by this saturday and I have wasted weeks on this JACL garbage, everything I try from them SUCKS.

Andy, you should release something better than JUGA and JACL, you seem to be one of the only people I know who can launch modules and components that tie in great... So many of these plugins suck, ruin your site, and make life hell...

I can't seem to find anything on here about my issues, and there are so many compatibility issues with everything... If someone could give me some guidance, or an order to successfully install modules, hacks, or whatever and make something work that is stable, I would be grateful!! Does anyone else have these issues?

      Thanks ever so much
      Rob

    • My first thought - both AEC and JACL use core hacks, and I'm sure you need to apply the hacks in a specific order (I remember seeing some text on the AEC hack page about this).

    • Hey Robert,

I had never heard of JUGA, so when you mentioned it I downloaded it and gave it a try. Component installed and mambot on my site won't load at all. Turn the mambot off and presto my site is back. Not sure why but figured you might want to know.

I have ARTIO JoomSEF installed and its about the only thing that could be messing with it.

    • Thanks guys! I deeply appreciate the alleviation of any current and future headaches... Dan, you comment makes total sense, as both are hacks, I would imagine you are correct as there is more than likely an approved method... I have gotten pretty much no help on either of the developer forums, so I will research this. I'm restoring and stripping the old site down preparing to begin the process yet again... This time, I am going to install and configure one component at a time, and backup immediately after each.

Although I may be hack and slash with Joomla, I am pretty good with Photoshop, Illustrator, Final Cut Pro, Motion HD, Soundtrack, Garageband, etc... I'm more motion media based and graphically inclined, so if there is anything I can ever help you guys with, or anyone else in the community for that matter, do not hesitate to ask... My other site with some portfolio stuff is located at www.videomarketingteam.com , I run that place with a partner of mine who is also an excellent hype man.

We've been contracted to do a 9/11 documentary, which I am excited about, it's a pretty big deal... Next year I want to get Jean Claude in for the event wish me luck hehe...

In any event, thank you. I will check out what you said about the "hacking" order... I would love to not use JACL at all but what choice do I really have =( I hate hacking core files... hate it hate it hate it.

      Thanks so much
      Rob

    • Just to pass on this bit of info... I have JACL working.. The key is to use the correct version with the version of Joomla you are using. There is also an unistall instructions. I experienced the same thing... It totally destroyed my site.

The biggest frustration is when I got JACL working RocketThemes does not work with any of the Group Access Comp. I used, mainly because their menus uses the content of the menu modules vice running the modules so you will not be able to use Rocket Themes with any of the Group Access Components out there.

    • from demo site:

Features of JACLPlus Pro Release for Joomla! 1.0.13 Stable.
IMPORTANT: JACLPlus Pro requires Zend Optimizer which is one of the most popular PHP plugins for performance-improvent, and has been freely available since the early days of PHP 4.

      from zend optimizer:

The Zend Optimizer is a free runtime application that enables PHP to run the files encoded by the Zend Guard. This is can be freely used by anyone looking to run encoded applications. Please download and follow the install instruction included in the distributions

    • I am running Zend Optimzer... and JACLPlus works perfectly when using the mainmenu module. It hides the links from the users who do not have permissions to see them. When I load the button menus in the RocketTemplate I am using it bypasses the JACL access and post the links in the main menu. I am looking for a way to suppress the buttons in accordance with the configuration I have set in JACL.

      Any ideas....
