    • I know this is an international membership site, but I believe the events that took place 6 years ago today affected the world as-well-as the US. No matter what your current political position or posture, on this day - the World stood together in outrage and disbelief as the events of this day unfolded before our eyes. September 11th, 2001 was a day that provided no answers, no comfort, no consolation, no reason and no joy.

I can remember where I was on September 11, 2001. I was at Conway Regional Medical Center giving a "In-Service" training class to a group of Hospital Staff. Our meeting was interrupted by the Environmental Services Manager stating "turn the TV on the news." We sat there for a couple of hours watching it all play out.

I also remember getting into my car and all the radio stations had suspended their normal broadcast schedule for the day and was broadcasting news and announcements all day.

    • I was just waking up to go to work. Had to close my store (before we opened) because there was a bomb threat at the federal building about 500 yards from me. We never opened that day.

So I went home and talked to others around the globe (via forums and IM) about the events with the news on in the background. For some reason I couldnt get enough information.

    • I'll never forget where I was. My wife and I had just lost our house to a fire 2 days before the attacks and were dealing with a tropical storm at the time as well. We were already feeling down while trying to go through the ashes to recover what we could. We were listening to the radio and could not believe what was coming across. We ran over to a neighbors to watch it on the TV.
A sad day in history for everyone. It has affected more than just the USA, it was felt all around the world as members of families died that were also foreigners.

My heart goes out to everyone that was affected. Our house burning didn't seem so bad after all, we could have been asleep at the time and lost our kids. The fire broke through the ceiling on top of our kids bed. Thankfully we were not at home at the time.

Greg - Great quote on the bottom - Carl would be proud. :)

    • I remember that morning....I received a phone call and was told to simply turn on my TV - everything in my life changed. My entire business I spent years building was gone...every thing I worked for gone in a single morning.

Since then, I have worked hard on a personal project, yes, as corny as this sounds, I have worked on a project to change the world. Sometimes I spend 40-60 hrs a week on it...sometimes I have to take a break, but not a day goes by that I do not think about my project inspired by the events that happened. (By the way I am an artist - and its a single painting that I do not let anyone see)

I know that one day I will release it - hopefully I will be alive long enough to see it come to fruition. :P (I figure I have another 40 more years to complete it)

My empathy goes out to everyone who has suffered needlessly over the events of that day and all the many tragic events around the world before and after that day.

War does not just happen - it is created and this is true for Peace too. Peace is not just an idea or a passing fancy, it something you create - and you have to work 10x harder...if you want to achieve Peace over War in the current world conditions. I decided after what happen to create a single painting that will inspire others to work towards Peace...I hope all of you find Peace in your life.

      Sincerely,
      William the Artist
