    Article or Module

Posted 12 years 2 months ago
    • does it matter to search engines if you have an article loaded with keyword etc or a module (with content in it) on the home page or not?

Is it better for search engines to index a site if you use articles instead of modules to dimplay your text??

      thanks

    • It makes no difference whether it's an article or a module, it's still just "text" and the SE's can read it as such.

The only thing that makes a difference is what text you use, what markup, what headings are used and where it's positioned on the page.

    • so the meta tags of an article are not better?

    • As Google pretty much ignores them anyway, and I assume that you are trying to rank in Google, then no, it makes no difference. Other SE's do make some use of them still. The only thing G uses is the description (sometimes - it still can override this depending on it's mood lol ) and title.

As an aside, we always use a separate SEO component like JoomSEF anyway so can tweak settings on a per page basis regardless of the content.
