Joomla Install Issues

- I need help trying to install or connecting Joomla 1.5RC2 on to my site. Apparently the mySQL system is not connecting to it and have gone through the entire install process. Using it as a beta for my site. Any help is appreciated if someone with knowledge on this. I am a complete and total idiot when it comes to trying to set this up.

Have you created a mysql database first? A mysql user? Added the user to the db (granted permissions)?
