Messed up a link

I think I messed up a content or component link. I had a similiar problem with the Virtuemart Component awhile back and with some help I got through it.
The problem is it seems that the front page modules are tied to the entie site. What happens is when you select a menu item (Logo edit, etc) from the top bar, the page opens however, the modules I have published on the home page (and set for home page only) are appearing on all pages. I had a similiar problem with Virtuemart and I solved it by creating a component link but I've tried quite a few different link settings to solve this problem but I'm stuck.

if you click on the top menu and select a category you will notice the pages appears however, the "Featured Products" and "latest Products" sections appear as well. ***Repeat, I do have those set to appear/linked to front page only in the module settings but that's not doing the trick.
Any suggestions?
