Help! Akeeba Restore Removes all Images

Posted 11 years 9 months ago
    • Hi

I'm trying to move a joomla 1.7.5 website from one hosting account to another.

I used the appropriate version of akeeba Backup to backup the site.

Then I used Kickstart to restore it on the new host and the site seems to work ok, except for the missing images. All images are present in the images folder, they just refuse to display on the website.

The admin area is also lacking images. I've successfully moved 3 websites using akeeba and kickstarter, however those were Joomla 2.5.8 sites.

I tried editing the configuration.php but no success.

      Any ideas?

J17 and J25 are from the same family and all I ever use is Akeeba, Could you please create a Super Admin login for me and PM it to me, along with FTP access info so that I can take a look.

    • Hi thanks,

      New development:
There is nothing wrong with Akeeba or Kickstart.
Testing in offline test beds, resulted in perfect clones. Not a single error.

Which blows every theory I had out of the water.

So Nothing to do with the following:
      1. the domain.
      2. Akeeba compatibility
      3. PHP conflicts
      4. Kickstarter errors
      5. Absolute path errors

With default settings everything worked perfectly offline.
So the problem is the backup host.

      Anything I should check for?
The host is a Cloud setup. I have already restored 2 websites successfully to this host. They were Joomla 2.5.8 sites.

    • Hi Fahmy
Okay, what happens if on this Cloud site you create a new article and use the Image option at the bottom of your article editing window to insert one of those quasi-existent images into the article.
On publishing the article does the image appear?

    • It does not display. Keep in mind the admin area pictures do not work as well. All thumbnails when browsing for an image inside Joomla do not display. Just place holder boxes.

I PM'd some stuff so you can see for yourself.

      Thanks

I'm aware of the admin security tag at the end of the URL but it's not working for me as your link returns me to the Home page.

When you try to open the article image link -> xx.xxxxxxxxxxxx.xx.xx/images/haveyoursay.jpg in a browser you get this error:
      Server error!

The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request.

      Error message:
/services/users/7a9c1029-dfe6-490d-b3c4-cf6acdd3ec15/screensho/www/dancp.co.za/images/.htaccess: Option ExecCGI not allowed here
I would contact your hoster about this.
