I'm going to dig into it this week to make a concept site. I'll let you know how well it works with RT.

UPDATE - Works Perfect in Responsive Diametric!!! :cheesy:

    • Ecwid seems really cool, Gene. Would you have time to list out what you consider the pros and cons?

    • They have all the pros listed on the site. It would take me too long to compile a list. As for cons, there aren't many.

The way to find the cons is to read between the lines...
      ideas.ecwid.com/forums/22031-customer-su...ions-ideas-for-ecwid

If you look at the ideas page above you'll see what features they've yet to implement.

Side by side I'd say it's got every J! extension beat. The number one PRO is that it's not hosted on my website but embedded. This frees up store space AND it allows me to put the store into an infinite amount of websites and social media sites.

      example...
Let's say I run three different content driven websites. One is all about home decor, one is about gardening and the last is about cooking. Let's also say I have a FB page with 1000 likes.

Instead of selling ad space on these sites I want to sell my exclusive line of products.

With ecwid I paste the embed code into each site. The way ecwid provides the code, I can divy them up, so if I want a module to have a special

Voila. Every site is now an ecommerce site with a nice ajax store - and, as I mentioned when I posted this thread it's responsive, so it looks great in ipad and iphone.

They all have the same products. The orders and inventory change are all processed in the same place. When I want to make a change or add a product I do so by logging into ecwid where I manage my account. If I want to see which site is doing the most selling, I use an affiliate code.

Oh, and it works on FB. So if someone visits my FB page, they can buy items right there on facebook. Tell me which J! extension does that.

    • Thanks, Gene. The aspect that jumps out at me is not having it connected with the Joomla website. While Joomla is doing its 1.5, 2.5...3.x thing, it's kind of scary to a site owner who is relying on the income--will the ecommerce plugin work with the next version of Joomla? Will the upgrade path be smooth?

Meanwhile, if Ecwid is just out there working nicely, separately, that's one less thing to worry about, right?
