    FastCGI / Apache module Conflict

Posted 11 years 8 months ago
    • I am having issues with the templates and some components. My server is running on fastcgi and when I try to access my template or update components or even the template version I get an error telling me
This image is hidden for guests.
Please log in or register to see it.

To overcome this I switch my server via plesk control panel to apache module. This allows me access to my templates but in order to save any changes I need to then revert back to fastcgi before saving. I am having similar issues with coms such as social backlinks that will operate in apache but not fastcgi.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

So with this specific error message, to me it's ambiguous whether there's an issue or not as you have the latest version of Joomla already.

Try installing in a subfolder on your server Joomla 3.0.3 and see if you get the same error.
If you do then go into your PhPMyAdmin console and check the database table for #__update_sites.
Then delete all the entries and try updating again.

    • Thanks for your reply. I have maybe confused the issue with too may problems. The error message that is quoted is the message I get when I try to access my template in Template Manager. The process I have to carry out at this moment is:

      Open Template Manager
Click on Cerulean - Default (Master)
The error message appears (it happens with other templates also)
I click Return to Control Panel.
I open my plesk panel and change the server settings from fastcgi to apache module
On backend I again click Open Template Manager
Click on Cerulean - Default (This time it allows access for me to change template settings)

If i try to save changes this error appears
This image is hidden for guests.
Please log in or register to see it.

Also whilst in apache module mode if I try to upload a file I get this message:
This image is hidden for guests.
Please log in or register to see it.

I switch back to fastcgi all works as normal allowing uploads and saving template changes without error messages. Even more confusing to me is that the template access issue goes away for the rest of the session (meaning I can access my template manager while in fastcgi)

I hope this helps explain the issue.I am not concerned about the joomla version etc for now.

    • While running FastCGI what are the permissions of the ../administrator/cache folder as I'm assuming this is the folder referred to by your your cutoff image titled "Warning"

    • In both fastcgi and apache the permissions are the same rwx-rwx-rwx

The full error messages read :

      JCacheStorageFile::_deleteFolderFailed deleting b45faca783397777abd7a75ea7052d2b-cache-Gantry-364b1f6092710d77d24d9f449dbfce26.php

The /cache and /cache/gantry folders are set to rwx r-x r-x when in fastcgi and apache
