Testing in different browsers - what do you do?

Im looking for the best way to test a design across the main browsers. Im using Linux with Firefox.
What do you lads do?

Install every current browser and test.
If you don't have iPhone, iPad, iTouch, for testing there are emulators available. (Also for Samsung Galaxy, etc.) Just Google.

I think I had tried installing IE on Linux before, I dont think it worked
