So you can load Leopard onto it and have the Adobe CS3 update launcher kill your entire CS3 suite with its flawed Version Cue implementation. Sure there is a fix script, but if you try update again -
I have used Macs at work for 9hours a day for the last 12 or so years and would never have one at home.
I have a Mac and I am running Vista and XP on it using VM (
Parallels
). You can also do Bootcamp (dual boot).
When I bought it I did not have to purchase additional software because all my Windows software run in coherence with Parallels (just like a regular mac "app" I actually purchase Parallels). There are things that I use mac for like video, images and photos. do test sites with both mac and windows. did not have to upgrade PC because my company gave me one to use.
Being a Window person for my entire IT career Mac was just an add-on. I enjoyed it and a few late nights to understand it. I must admit performance is better that a PC (even the Windows apps performed better).
If you are upgrading worth doing it and porting all your windows apps to it. IMHO
I wouldn't say based on my experience, that performance is better on a Mac, especially in real world terms. At a consumer hardware level, a Windows or Linux based PC will always have a hardware performance advantage over the locked down hardware Apple bestows apon its users. An average PC Gamer, which makes up a great percentage of the high end PC market can tweak and overclock their hardware with ease, often gaining around a 20% increase over a same specced Mac.
The interest in Macs at a mass consumer level seems akin to that of the Ipod: Stylish yet technically inferior.
My query is, is an iMac the way to go? Imho, a Mac Pro would be the way to go. I have read of a lot of hardware problems with iMacs... I'm not sure if Mac has fixed the problems or not.

Just got my new iMac today and I must say I am very impressed so far with the ease of use. I'm just getting started and haven't tried out all the features, but so far I am very much liking my experience. A nice breath of fresh air indeed. ;D
