    Ongoing site maintenance procedure

Posted 8 years 6 months ago
    • I have used Akeeba to upload local site to live host. That was fine but I am confused about how maintaining the site will work. In the short term there will be a lot of new content updating and I am not confident doing this on a live site. I was planning to use Akeeba backup in the following way – 1. make backup of live site/database 2. copy to local wampserver 3. Do changes 4. backup local site/database and ftp to live site. Is it sensible to use Akeeba backup for this or is there a better way? What confuses me about this method is - do I have to use Kickstart on both live and local sites and is it necessary to keep changing the database name or can it be overwritten?
      I would appreciate any advice.
