SOLVED Joomla Email Issues! After Moving Site

    • I have been working with Joomla for about 2 years and I have never had email issues, so I am not experienced with searching out possible issues "Email" Specific.

I built my newsite on a sub-domain and then when I was complete and ready to replace my old site. I just changed my sub-domain name over to the main domain. I renamed the old site www.mydomain.old inside my folder.

I went into my configuration.php file and changed the sub-domain referenced to the full domain. Everything worked! or at least I thought it did until I tried the email function.

I have changed the Global settings from PHP to SMTP and I get no results. I dont even know if the mail was working before I moved the site.... I had no reason to use it... on the sub-domain!

I will say that when I setup my database for the new installation I created it for a sub-domain and I have yet to change the database to the base domain name. I don't really think that should matter though... should it? The site is connected to the database and all content along with everything else works!

      Any Ideas! ?

I don't have Cache enabled.... Is there anything else you can think of?

    • What are you using for the host setting for SMTP?
What does php.ini have for the mail setting?

Is this a Shared host or a VPS/dedicated server?

I appologize for not getting back to this topic in a timely mannor. I have solved my problems without having to do ANYthing!! It appeared that the host had mail server problems and it just so happened to have been occuring at the same time I moved the site. Problem solved!
