    how do i relocate joomla site to root directory from subdirectory

    • i currently have a completed joomla site located at www . mysite. com/site and would like to move it up to the root directory. is this easy to do? how?

    • Very easy. Just move all files in your root directory and edit your config.php to change the path of your site.

    • It also depends on if any of your content has links in it. If the content has links in it, you may need to fix those links.

      thanks. luckily no content items had links pointing to other content items. only problem was that SEO optimized URLs no longer worked. I turned that off for the time being. Otherwise, it worked fine.

      Is it possible to get this working with the SEO optimized URL's? I'm having the same issue.

    • I think I solved it. It appears as though my ftp program (forklift) wasn't getting rid of the file extension. I pulled the htaccess.txt file into a basic text editor and saved as .htaccess and uploaded the new file back up to the web server. Now everything works. I hope this helps someone else.
