I have a site set up under a subdomain. i am really considering buying a domain name for this site. my question is, after buying a domain name, how do i make this site use the domain name that i purchased without downtime?

If you are using godaddy to buy your domain you could merely forward the domain to the url your site currently uses. Also, to hide that fact it is located somewhere else you would chose the masking option.
Example: buy yourdomain.com from godaddy and then tell it to point to yourcurrentdomain/you_sub_domain

thank for posting a reply.
I get what you are saying. If a member of my site will type mynewdomain.com, he will go to mycurrentdomain/mysubdomain. The problem is he will still see in the address bar that he is looking at mycurrentdomain/mysubdomain. I want it to look like an independent site having its own domain name.

Is masking the same as an addon domain? If it is, If i put an addon domain and point it to the subdomain, will it hide the subdomain in the address bar?
