    SOLVED Facebook Live...button?

Posted 6 years 1 month ago
    • RT,

I have a client who was interested in having some sort of button that pops up when they go live on FB...

I've seen this on modules for feeds before...but never a button that pops up or is in the social section of a website...like the FB button switches to FB Live...or something like that...

Thought I'd ask the water cooler and see if anyone could steer me the right direction.

      Mike...

There's a "status" field you can query with a GET post

If you look under the POST section though it looks like querying 'status' would return one of the following:

      UNPUBLISHED, LIVE_NOW, SCHEDULED_UNPUBLISHED, SCHEDULED_LIVE, SCHEDULED_CANCELED

I don't know enough about it... you have to query by Video ID... and I don't know if the Video ID is unique to the live broadcast or if it's always the same Video ID per user...

      Found this too:

      stackoverflow.com/questions/37684377/che...ed-their-live-stream

Which sounds like you can create an app, authenticate it with the user, then make a POST to return their live_videos...

Makes sense to me that the only way you'll be able to do this is with a fully authenticated FB App... they're not going to let you simply query a user to see if they're live without first authenticating as that user

    • Matt,

Yeah, I used the developer for facebook and have a web app for easyblog (stackideas)...

Was just trying to wrap my head around how to do this...it's actually a pretty groovy idea...just not sure where to start.

Thanks for the suggestions, going to go check them out.

    • So,

Best I could find was setting notifications if a page you like has gone live...
