  • Menu Items are not linking to my content pages

    • Hello,

      Let me preface this post with I am a "NEWBIE" to Joomla....I have basic programming skills and have done technical project management for awhile hence the new site. I am going to do some smb websites for some friends and local shops.

      With that being said, can someone help me with the following issue. I have created my menu items figured out the parent/child relationship in suckerfish but now I am really stuck with the linking process. None of my items link to the content sections I have created. I would appreciate anyones help as I am really stuck. I hate to bother folks but I am really stuck and would appreciate some help if possible. In addition, does anyone recommend any good materials or sites to better learn Joomla?

      PS -- www.moonandstarstables.com/joomla (have no yet set the dns to evergreeninternet)

      PSS -- any freelance joomla pros that need side work please send your details as I have some good work coming and will need help

      THANKS ALL - Have a great day

    • Not sure how you created your menu items, but they just give me a 404 not found error.

      To create a link to your content, use the menu manager -
      1. Menu | Mainmenu.
      2. From the next page, select New then "Link - Content Item" from the Content section (top left box which starts with Blog - Content Category etc);
      3. Next type the name of your menu item into the Name box (for example "Why Us";
      4. from the "Content to Link: " box, select the relevant artilce,
      5. Skip over the next box (On click etc),
      6. From the Parent Item box, if this is a top level or parent link, leave the selection as "Top" otherwise if it is to be a child item select the name of the parent from the list - then select "Save" from the top.
      With any luck and a following wind, you will have a working menu item. Repeat as necessary.
      Hope that I understood your question correctly and that this all helps.

    • Looks like your friendly urls are having issues...have you disabled it then put in the actual links, then tested it?

    • Hey Guys, thank you so much have not had a chance to try it yet because I have to run out with the family but will play with it later. Again thank you so much for your time and consideration and will circle back after I have tested your ideas. Have a wonderful weekend, Greg
