Problems with assining templates to different content

Posted 17 years 1 month ago
    • Hello everybody.

Perhaps this is not the place to ask the question, but I searched the Joomla forums for days now and I cannot find a solution for my problem.
Perhaps some one on this forum is facing the same problem as I have:

I upgraded to joomla 1.5 a week ago, together with the Hivemind template.
Now I want to assing different templates for different content. So I installed Synapse also.
      Thus : Hivemind on : www.mazalien.nl
      and Synapse on www.mazalien.nl/guestbook.html

And I also want to assing also a lot of other content to different templates.

On the joonla 1.13 installation this worked perfectly, but now with the fresh new 1.5 installation the templates won't switch to the desired other template.
Does anybody know a solution or can point me in the right direction how to solve this?

      Greetings mazalien

    • Just click on the template to assign (in the template manager) and select the menu items to assign it to, just like assigning a module.

By the way, assigning multiple templates to menu items is not a great idea for a lot of reasons ;)

I know how to assign templates, I do that on my other site ( www.mazalien.com - joomla 1.14 ) for years now, and I had never any problems with this, instead, I think this is a very nice way to enriche your site.

But on my domain www.mazalien.nl this does not work as I pointed out.... after upgrading to joomla 1.51 and using the new Hivemind template..

Any other suggestions, or anybody else?

      greetings

    • @ James

I cleared cookies, I tried Firefox, I tried IE I even installed opera, I enabled, disabled SEO, and last but not least I even deleted everything with ftp, did for the second time a complete new re-inslall of joomla 1.51 with a new download and a new download from Hivemind and some other rocket theme templates, and created a new fresh database ....
So I gave up, and landed here.

    • Simple my friend,, go into template manager, CLICK the template you wish to assign menus to, then scroll down to the bottom, and look under menu assignments ON THE LEFT... you should be good to go from there!

      Great job!

Tara, that is aexactly what I did, I assigned the templates I want for the diferent menuitems the way you said, but they simply won't swich to the desired template. The site stays allways on the default template, no matter what I do... and this is happening since I upgraded to 1.5.

And yeah I do sleep, sometimes in trains, boats, busses, and planes and other weird places, when I travel... but that is the charm of travel, or not? ;D
