J 1.5.1 Making modules appear horizontally in one position

Hello everybody,
I read on the Tutorial section and found out an article about module styles (article tutorials.rockettheme.com/joomla-tutoria.../module-hilites.html ).
I am trying to incorporate the module style "horiz", by making the jdoc statement in index.php file to "horiz" and published 2 modules in that position.
To my understanding this would arrange the modules to appear next to each other, but it's still vertical.
Please help.
