Setting Up Rocketthemes Template In Dreamweaver 8 for Editing

  • Setting Up Rocketthemes Template In Dreamweaver 8 for Editing

    • I am trying to understand how to configure my Dreamweaver 8 to edit a Rocketthemes Template. My operating system is Vista Ultimate so I use the workstation for the local host and need also to setup the test server. I will appreciate any direction.

      Thanks,

      jack

    • Hi Jack,

easiest way to setup a local server under a windows os is XAMPP. It has a windows installer for apache webserver, mysql, php and ftp. As far as I know, it's not possible to edit joomla sites in wysiwyg mode, since the pages are generated dynamically. If anyone knows a way to do so, let me know ;)

If you want to setup the site in Dreamweaver, you can then use the ftp upload to your local ftp server.

    • Hi Rudolf,
Thank you for the insight. I am using Xampp currently and overlooked the obvious.

Do you have a quick direction for setting up the built in Filezilla ftp? Since we don't us a password with Xampp will this cause errors because of the password omission? As you can tell, I'm new at setting up details for local servers!

Thank you for the kindness of responding to these inquiries.

      Sincerely,

      Jack A. Parsons

    • there's a standard password set for filezilla server, change that, unless you can not reach the internet from the computer the server is running on.

      For Filezilla documentation, see filezilla-project.org/wiki/index.php/FAQ

    • Hi Rudolf,

Again thanks for the assistance. I will read the documentation and let you know how it goes.

I enjoy 24/7 internet connectivity and I use Filezilla to ftp to my remote host server with the setup information they provide for mysql service. Setting up this local host testing environment with Dreamweaver must be equally easy, I just lack experience.

I look forward to giving you a good report of success!

      Thank you,

      Jack
