Has anyone ever used html email for mass mailing before?
What I mean is, I would like to create & send emails to registered members like the ones that Sears, Office Depot, etc...send to subscribers. It's in graphic formats, I'm assuming some sort of html email design. Has anyone done this before...if so, please advise. Thank you.

Yes,
There are a variety of online service providers that help this go easier. Verticalresponse.net, constantcontact, etc.... So you can build the html version in Dreamweaver lets say and then you copy this into the message builder tool of whatever service you are using and then you make a text only version that can be used by those who don't accept html e-mails (like handheld devices ) and you upload a mailing list (from an excel spreadsheet for example) then you can send the e-mail.
Any images should be on your website so they dont have to be embedded in the message (makes them very big and possibly suspicicious) The online service will format your e-mail to be in compliance with spam restrictions (unsubscribe link , physical address of the organization etc...) I know there are plugins for joomla in this area but have not used them so other may chime in here with a joomla-centric method.
