intro text not showing

Please help...
I have a list of articles, but no intro text...
What am I doing wrong?
In the articles themselves, under Parameters-Advanced, I have Intro Text: Show
Menu Item Type is Category List Layout; in the Parameter-Components, I have Show Intro Text: Show.... Is the Menu Item Type correct? or should it be something else??

for some odd reason, I 'd done that before & it didn't show the read more...anyway, it works now. Thank you.
Another question,

you can see that there's so much space b/t that and the read more...how can I put the read more closer. I also want a line b/t each article...how do I do that?
