Empty menu item.

Is there a way to have a main menu item not point to content, but simply be a hanger for sub-menus items?
I'll try my hand at ASCII art here:
Home -- Menu No. 1 | | Item No. 1 | Item No. 2
What I'm looking for is Menu No. 1 not do anything other than drop Items No. 1 and No. 2 down from it (I'm using colormatic, if that matters). When someone would click on Menu No. 1, nothing would happen.
Right now, I've created a nearly blank page of static content to point Menu No. 1 to and that's working, but I wish I didn't need it.
It just hit me, could I put a simple # as a link? Making it do nothing?

Making the menu type as a link and having the link URL be a simple # is working, just for the record.
Any other possibilities?
