Wow, just saw the size of my last post. :) I guess I am a total Fabrik fan because what took me about 6 months to accomplish in the asp.net world took me about an hour the first time I tried Fabrik...did exactly what I need and needed no js/php/SQL knowledge whatsoever. :) </soapbox>

Thanks Terp i really appreciate the info. Where can I find this program? Would i just install it in joomla?

      www.fabrikar.com

Fabrik 1.0.5 is the latest and greatest for J1.0.x; yes, install it like any other extension in Joomla. Rob and Hugh in the forums over there are awesome, so they could point you in the right direction if you get stuck. I paid the $40 for the documentation to support the program, and it cut days out of the learning curve.

Hugh is the man when it comes to taking it to the next level. No matter what I have asked, he's always given me direction or, hell, given me hundreds of line of php/sql/js to get it done. ;) "How would I put "Enter Your Name Here" into a text field and have it erase when they click in the box?" Here's some OnFocus/js to paste in the javascript window." "How would I show a drop-down, then change the options of the subsequent drop-down based on the previous selection?" Boom, here's some ajax/js to condition the dropdowns and make it happen without a db call. "How do I allow each user to click a button and display a table of their entries stored in the db, then allow them to edit any entry by clicking on the field?" Boom, here you go. :) "How would I pass parameters to a dynamic URL and...." Boom, here you go. ;)

    • PS...let me caveat this love-fest by saying that if you are only looking to use one feedback form and have it emailed, perhaps try some of the others out, too, as all the Fabrik horsepower under the hood comes at a cost...some overhead providing all that automated power. :)

Some of the others are undoubtably lighter in the js/kilobytes required to get a feedback form done. It's a trade off, much like using RT templates and Joomla rather than pure html/css for lean and mean sites.
