I am running Joomla 1.0.15 Stable with GroupJive 1.63 Beta. I am having difficulty with the invite function used for groups from both email and PMS. Using the Ajax feature when I invite a user I see their name. If I click them and select invite a get the following error message "That is not a valid e-mail address" This happens whether I use email or PMS and the end result is the recipient gets no message. No answers on groupjive forums. Anyone have any suggestions for a fix?
Anyone experience this error. I checked the groupjive site and many users have the same problem. It seems that the development stopped for this product.
just no incentive to move faster than perhaps they had in the past......
GJ is a big feature to me in my sites... a must have in my opinion,,, and since there has been this "lull" in dev cycle I have looked at some options:
1) If you are having any problems,,, the answer is out there,, you just need to be prepared to dig through site after site and follow down threads of rambling to get your answers
2) learn the code yourself and fix your own problems.
3) ( not to dis Joomla here ) BUt if you look at the new SMF 2.X BETA it has a new membergroups system,, where an admin can assign mods to over see groups ( just like in GJ ) and those groups can be request, invite, or public ( just like in GJ ) it ties into the events Calendar ( like in GJ )
BUT EVEN MORE KEWLY,,, The boards to the groups can have permissions and subscriptions ( if you want to charge ) AND the SMF Gallery Pro can honor those groups so each group can have their own gallery ( these last things GJ never had ,, but had been requested)... now here is the sticky part... the bridge to Joomla is a dead issue for the same reason why GJ development has slowed. BUT the bridge to Mambo is alive and well.
4) and one last thought,, if you must have Joomla,, you can use AEC and JUGA to set up something similar to GroupJive,,,, not for the faint of heart,, but you can accomplish more that route as opposed to using GJ out of the box without making your own modifications.
Thanks for the reply and advice. There is absolutely no response from anyone on GroupJive on this issue or any others that I say. If you post a message there is no answer. It seems the forum is just a place where people post endless questions never answered. I even offered to contribute $ towards a fix. I will no longer use this product on any of my sites and will look for alternative solutions.
