    • That thread was from a year ago. It is true that the server load went way over 40, but that was only during peak times and during non peak times the site would be at 2 or 3. They have just updated their servers however and I had no problems with them since. However, I needed an upgrade from shared hosting as my site's traffic increased, and if you have sites with high traffic I would not use Apt hosting's shared hosting accounts. I will say that Apt host was one of my favorite hosting companies so far.

    • Bah Humbug to hosting companies.....it is not if, but WHEN they go to hell. Yeah, yeah, call me uber cynical!!!! :-[ :-[

The most you can hope for is to find one that does great for a good long time before it oversells to death or craps out.

      1. Godaddy: They were good till I woke up and smelled the coffee (got a clue as to what it took to run a joomla site)

2.Hostmonster: They were fantastic, but they don't do reseller accounts and couldn't open the ports I needed

      3. Hostnine: They were a great bargain (reseller) and worked really well until they started overselling, from there things ground to a halt.

      4. Servint: Not cheap, but amazing hosting.

Gollumx beat me to the comment on "BestHostingSites" nonsense.

    • Servint looked good but for me they leave too much in my hands. I need cpanel configured for me.

Siteground doesn't give you multiple domains under one account.

I just signed up for Rochen. They certainly don't oversell since their plans offer very small amounts of storage and bandwidth!

Years ago I had Apollo hosting and their support was fantastic until all of a sudden they weren't responding to support requests, and I mean urgent things like the server is down!

    • A lot of shared hosting companies start out good but get purchased and from there the service goes downhill.

      Hi again!

      Just found this:
      www.besthostsdirectory.com/

      Hope that helps!  :)

I'm sorry to have to say this but most hosting review sites are a scam.

      Read blog.dreamhost.com/2006/05/04/web-hostings-dirty-laundry/ for an example.

Wow, just read the dreamhost.blog. Very sad. But hey, now I know what my next project will be:
another deceptive, misleading hosting review site!

BAAAAAAAAH! Not for all the money in this world...

      Thanks Gollum for sharing.

The helpdesk at ServInt is top notch and just completed a recent hardware upgrade.
They would have held your hand for Cpanel setup - they are very responsive to request - even at 02:00a.

I run a PLesk 8.4 setup one of my servers there and it works out OK for me.

Shameless Plug: If think again on hosting give them a try and please mention my name on signup. :)

    • I'm with HostGator for years and until last year I had no problem with them. BUT since several months I'm running into troubles with them. A lot of server downtimes, and other serious problems that I will not mention here (the list is too looooong) but I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THEM and will not recommend this company anymore.

I'm looking for another company and ServInt seems to be good and serious (thanks GollumX). At this time I'm trying to analyze their solutions to see if it's good for me and if I can move my websites with them. As soon as I can leave HostGator, better for me.

I saw on ServInt website that they install cpanel for free! www.servint.net/supervps/order.php?package=supervps
Is it necessary to setup something more to have cpanel?
