Reistration page not appearing

I was wondering whether anyone else had had this problem. I am using the Populus template and have installed CB as per the demo site. Everything looks fine and installation conforms with that supplied by Joomlopolis. However, when I hit register on the front end a page momentarily appears then disappears. I got a quick screen grab while it was visible and the messsage was
"Wrong parameter count for implode () in /srv/www/htdocs/joomla/components/com_comprofiler/comprofiler.php. On checking the CB forums it points to an outdated version of PHP that I am running on my internal server. The string can be checked at www.joomlapolis.com/component/option,com...id,54643/#54643 ;
Problem being that I am running an internal server off a static IP whilst I try to develop the site and the server is such a dinosaur that it won't handle an updated php version. Before I go and change the code to try and fix it, is anyone else aware of another more obvious reason that I could be having this problem.
