    • If so, can you provide a link to the site please?

Just want to see KickApps in action.

      Many thanks.

    • Hi Lars,

Your integration looks pretty seamless... well done!

I heard there were issues with the shared user authentication plugin for Joomla1.5. Has this been fixed?

    • Never heard of it. Looks awesome. Whats the limit of bandwidth, cost, ads for free? I like the idea, but all the data probably gets saved on their server right?

    • Hello!

I'm using Kickapps myself. And YES there are serious issues with the Single Sign On extension. But, I think the issue is more to do with the support folks being unwilling to figure out the problem or to deal frankly and clearly with the users.

The beauty is that when a user signs registers throught either Kickapps or Joomla that user and info is listed in the user DB for Joomla.

This issue is with the Php Soap_client and NuSoap_client (I think that's right?) and how Kickapps uses one and Joomla the other. Basically they don't agree.

Essentially the fix is to download the latest PHP 5 NuSoap (7.3 version from Source Forge) and replace the existing library with the new library (I'm sure i'm not being clear.... If anyone wants to know I can provide links to better information). Next, two lines of need to be changed and that's it!

NOT SO QUCK! (But you're almost there! so don't give up!)

MAKE SURE THAT ALL OF THE ADMIN PASSWORDS, EMAIL ADDRESSES, USERNAMES, ETC ARE THE SAME FOR BOTH KICKAPPS AND FOR JOOMLA OR ELSE YOU MAY BE LOCKED OUT OF YOUR SITE. (I'm new to this game and panicked and deleted and reinstalled realizing later I only needed to delete the files from the server. Probably wont make that mistake again!)

However, that said, I'm really excited about Kickapps. I put a lot of time into using CB but didn't feel comfortable with my ability to maintain and keep it secure. KickApps is a complete solution. Cost: $100 per month to buy the adspace that KickApps has on the site. If you arent bothered by the ads, no cost.

Anyway, any questions, let me know. I may not know the answer, but i can point to the forum posts that proved useful. (Most of you got useful brains about this stuff so i'm sure it won't be as overwhelming for you. I am just thankful for Uncle Google.)

      Peace,
      Brad

    • Good to hear you have it going bandha,

I dropped kickapps after I found it lacked a very important feature for SN's :
1.) Users cannot make their profiles private.
2.) Users cannot reject friend requests.

IMO, the lack of those features would easily halve sign-ups, especially when trying to get people to register who already enjoy those features on bebo.

CB still sucks, better to pay phpfox or the jfusion people to bridge phpfox with joomla. (a yr ago I was quoted $600 for that)
