    • I installed the SmartSEF Joomla 1.5 URL Rewriting Extension/component on my rocketheme joomla 1.5. (http://localhost/site/)
      I copied the file .htacces in to "test" folder.
      I activate the "mod_rewrite" from global configuration. ( www.smartsef.org/forum/index.php?topic=53.0 )

      I enabled SmartSEF from configuration panel and i choose extension .html
      I purged the URL repository and i went to Url Repository and i added something like this:

      Now when I'm trying to get access to any page including my admin page, it show the following error:

      Server error!

      The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request. Either the server is overloaded or there was an error in a CGI script.

      If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.
      Error 500
      localhost

      I am on localhost running the latest XAMPP and using rocketheme template.

      I have worked so hard in the last one week to build this site almost ready to deploy to production and now I can't even access the admin to turn off sef. I have followed several advice on the extension developer's site and also joomla main forum, but not gotten it to work. Infact, no one is answering my request for help.

      Please help here...

    • I would check the SEF component forums for help. Most likely it's a component issue and not necessarily a template issue.

    • yes it is, but there are no response forthcoming from the SEF component and main joomla forums. I am desperate for help now. three days of development downtime and still no way out. Any help from the community will be greatly appreciated

    • The best that I can recommend is to try and undo any changes that you made for SEF.

      Always best to make a backup before making any serious changes, too late I know - but food for thought.

    • I did a backup last week. Although I have done several customization afterwards. If my only solution is to re-install, my concern is that the backup does not contain all the installed extension to hold the content.

    • You are on localhost. Why don't you rename the sef component folder to turn it inaccessible by the database? Try it.

      Or delete the database table of the sef component.

    • Tried that. Still no show. I appreciate your assistance as I find ways to resolve this matter. The annoying thing is that I wrote the developer, posted several times on their forum,and not even an acknowledgment of my issues. The component is SmartSEF and SEO patch.

    • Have you tried to turn off sef in the configuration.php ? I think it's possible.
