    • I don't get it.

      Why have the article advanced parameters trump the menu component parameters? Why is this an improvement?

      Isn't independent control a bit more robust?

      It seems to be impossible to have the authors name display on the article page and NOT display in the blog view of the menu component. There by cluttering up the blog view or homepage view with authors names and such.

      The most obvious oddity is if you want the article title to NOT link to iteself on the the final rendering of that article. (after clicking the read more) you must have the article advanced parameters set to NO on "link title" which in turn trumps the menu componet parameters and the blog view now has NON-linking titles. This is just odd.

      What am I missing?
      I can't think of one reason why I would use such a feature. I am already hacking J1.5.

      I ask here at RT watercooler because I like your forum better.

    • I might be wrong, and probably am, please feel free to correct me.

      I thought....

      In the Article Manager, hit the parameters buttons, it's sets a global default for all of your articles. Then when you create a menu item, you can accept those defaults, or override them with manual setting for that one menu item.

      Then when an article is created, it is created with the article global default and will appear like that unless the menu setting overrides it.

      The last part being, if you change the parameters on an individual article, it overrides everything.

      Link to a post that rhuk started at Joomla.org http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?t=166054 about halfway down there is a big list with red and green font. At the end of the post is states the issues are resolved and working as they should.

      There seems to be two ways to access articles
      1) via menu item
      2) via module

      Is the global was being taken from the component setting. ???

      1) Access Via Menu Item (standard article layout)

      Author Names: Article Advanced Parameter setting overrides the Component Configuration / Global setting is taken from Component Configuration

      I am still a bit confused with the menu and item access and the global parameters of J1.5
