Readmore Button Problem

    • Hi,

I am using Replicant j1.5.2 . When I insert a use the read more button when creating content, it appears as a red line which I assume is normal. I publish the article when shows on the front page but the read more button does not show. I checked the html and nothing is stripped out of the article. I have created the article with no editor and the same occurs.

I have read and followed many of the suggestions made in the forum, but nothing solves the problem.

Do you have any suggestions to help me?

      Thanks,

      vachatterus

    • In the Article Manager for that article, look at the right side tab for "Parameters" or "Advanced Parameters" and there should be a setting that says "Read More" and you can choose to show, hide, global.

If it's not there, go to "Menus -> mainmenu" and click on "Home", and you should find the same thing.

If it's on a blog layout, go to that menu item and try the same solution.

    • This is where a link to your site would have helped you get the help you needed much faster.

The systems readmore link only works for article content and links to the rest of that articles content. Use of the readmore style to link to another site or use in a module requires the style class readmore...like you mentioned.

    • I'm having that problem but I don't know that it's a Rockettheme issue....could be Joomla or JCE or Kathy Rose! Still I'll throw it out there in case someone knows the answer.

The Readmore link is working on the front page of this site: test.rockola.com but not on this page: test.rockola.com/index.php?option=com_co...cle&id=57&Itemid=142 or other content items where I have tried it. In the parameters it is set to SHOW the readmore button. I took the extra precaution of also checking to be sure the menu item is set to SHOW the readmore button.

      Any idea what's going on?

I can see the readmore symbol in the editor and in the html when I view it in the editor.

    • I think what's happening is that the Joomla system readmore code points to the "readon" class that's standard. In the template, you have a "readon" class and a "readon2" class with the second one being the button look.

The easiest way to change this is look through your template.css files and switch all calls to readon with readon2...but make sure to do the same vice versa!

    • Hi Ben,
Thanks for taking a shot at solving this! Just to clarify, you think I should change every instance of a.readon in the template.css and style.css files into a.readon2 ... and every a.readon2 into a.readon? I thought I'd throw in pictures of showing the readon code existing in the backend editor and not existing when I examine the page in firebug. So strange!
