"RocketTheme Joomla Templates" ending up in Google description?

Posted 16 years 9 months ago
    • I just blogged a new deal on one of my cheesey affiliate sites that pays for my hosting. ;) and I was surprised to find it indexed in Google within a few minutes...and was further surprised to find "RocketTheme Joomla Templates" in the description, too?!?!?

I checked the global config meta fields...all blank...the fields for the post reflected the correct description in the meta description field...not sure what's happening here.

      Anyone have any ideas? :)

    • was it a RocketLauncher based site? We do put these things in the joomla config of the RL because it's based on the demo site.

    • Yes, sir...stripped down launcher install. Uses a portion of the meta description, then inserts the "RocketTheme Joomla Templates" into the description. :)

    • What's also strange is that I just looked at the full text of the description Google lists...seems Mr. G disregarded the meta description used for the article/home page and used the 4th bullet mouseover text of the Synapse rotator thingy published in the Advert position...strange.

I then googled the proper site name and the description is correct...only happens when I search for:

      sitename+Joomla+Template

    • You should not use the rocketlauncher for your actual site. You should install WAMP on your Windows computer, then install the rocketlauncher there to see how it works. Then take that knowledge from a fresh install of Joomla on your site and implement.

    • Seriously? WE should not use RL for our real site? I thought this was the whole point? To not have to do that in between step of getting it all perfect.

The real simple question here is where is the meta-title controlled from in the RL versions? Can someone please answer the original question.

I mean -- WHERE / What file etc...

Now that RL is my real site -- even though it should't be -- where do I control the meta tags from if its not the back end as usual...thanks.

    • You can of course use an RL for your production site, but your expected to scour through it yourself and adjust the data. We can't be held responsible for some 'demo' content showing up in google if you've not removed it.

    • Yea, I had an alt tag left in there, and I think this was merely a glitch in the Google matrix; google pulled a rotator bullet for the site description, used the RT alt tag for the keywords, etc, etc...think because it was a quickly indexed post that it just messed things up...first time I have seen it do this.

      I am a 100% launcher guy...never leave home without it. ;)
