Which SMF Bridge Does Rocket Theme Use From JoomlaHacks

- I have a client that has a large site and would like to add a forum, I personally use V-Bulletin. I would like to know what bridge R.T. is using from JoomlaHacks.com for this SMF forum. Thanks!

There is only one bridge there, and thats the Joomla-smf bridge. There is another option if you want to try

Personally i prefer the later one

I visited the Joomla Hacks site and found there were a few options for the Joomla SMF Bridge, it was confusing to a first timer, because I did not know what to download or which one.
So I followed your link to SimpleMachines.org and downloaded SMF 1.1 RC3 along with their bridge. After installing it I found out the SMF login form for the front of my Joomla site conflicts with my Versatility's CSS. - Last Edit: 8 years 11 months ago by Kat05.

To download JSMF Bridge from JoomlaHacks, you must register to the forum first.
If you have registered, just go to this link www.joomlahacks.com/component/option,com...Itemid,94/board,47.0
there you can find Wolverine (the developer) attached the Bridge.
Now, JSMF Bridge (by wolverine) validate XHTML and have option to Include CSS from SMF Theme to Joomla or not.

FYI for anyone considering this JSMF Bridge! Proceed with caution!
First warning is that do not try this build and expect it to work flawlessly on your live sites. This is beta software, it has been stable and worked well for all the testers but I seriously doubt it is without bugs. So use with caution. "Qoute from -Wolverine JoomlaHacks"

I tried the SMF 1.1 RC3 along with their recommended bridge. I had difficulty on the install. It was not until I logged into the Joomla frontend as 'admin' (after a clean install of SMF), that SMF synced both registrations as one. Even though I have 60 users on this particular site, I did't sync them. The bridge instructions (in the bridge under the 'Sync' tab) said that the users would sync as they logged in. I left it alone and that was the case.
Now that SMF seems to be working, I'm going to try the RT SMF Template installation. From my experience with another site, I don't expect any problems.
BTW, I am doing all this on my machine with Joomla Server and then uploading the files and database. Sweet, huh?

- Since 2004 (Mambo days) I have been using Orstio's bridge (supported over at simplemachines.org ) without any major problems, before deciding which way to go I tried Joomlahacks bridge too back than known as Cowboy’s bridge it had lots of problems the major one being, it modified Mambo/Joomla’s core files hence made the upgrade a pain,

I've been bouncing between Orstios bridge & Joomlahacks for the last year. In the end I opted for Orstios because the support then was much quicker and new versions were released more quickly after Joomla releases.......until now and I've gone back to Joomlahacks. The new beta 2 seems to be considerably better than any of the bridges so far and provides a pretty much perfect integration on our site. We have Community Builder installed which has always been a major problem for Orstios bridge (they had huge fall outs with people asking for integration earlier this year) but the Joomlahacks one allows all members links to be directed to CB and avatars to be synced and so on. the other thing is that the registration is much smoother - with Orstio's a user has to register as normal but when they first log in they get directed to an smf and asked to log in again (fort the initial sync). After that they only log in once but I still didn't like that - the simpler & less for users to do the better I think.
I can't comment on the quality of the codes cos I know nothing about that but from an end user point of view I think joomlahacks is the better bridge at the moment. The patching of the files is very simple & shouldn't concern anyone about upgrading etc. It is still beta though so it does depend on how happy you are with stuff thats still being developed - but no doubt there will be a new joomla release anytime and then they'll all be changed again anyway :
