Removing space/padding in Hivemind

Hiya
I'm working with Hivemind, but need a helpful pointer on how to remove some of the space between the header image and the main text area.
The layout of my site is fairly strightforward, so I haven't needed to use the user 7, 8, 9, 10 & 11 positions. Instead I have a simple image rotator in the header area and text below. However, there is a lot of white space between the bottom of the images in the header and the start of the text area which I would like to remove. From the CSS it looks like it's a padding issue, but I don't want to mess things up...
Please could someone give me a heads up on how to do this?
