Okay, okay, I must confess; I was not a fan of HiveMind when it first released, and I just went on my merry way after about a :30 minute test drive. Well, after seeing dozens of misplaced posts in here lately, I took another look and I think I've changed my whole site building premise.
I have been trying to build big, complex, dozens and dozens of page sites loaded with extensions and graphics and spinning bells and whistles and the like...and ending up with what I would call 'Disneyland on Drugs.' Coming over from DNN and finding all these cool, free extensions compelled me to put them to use them (I mean, they are free after all)!
Let my people go. No longer am I going this route. For my third site, I am going to use HiveMind and have now come to appreciate the uber clean look that showcases the content...now that I am going to have actual content. I am envisioning sites that have fewer than 5-6 pages tops...homepage is so clean that it only spells out the general premise of the site and what they will find on the other 4-5 pages, and that's it...boom.
Anyway, I just wanted to post about my change of heart and direction and here's to hoping for more clean templates from RT! *tips glass*
PS...imagine a replicant revisted template (was VERY popular, no?) that meets Hivemind and creates a clean, very subtle transparency template with absolute minimum js and fancy stuff!
