making default menu item point to index.php instead of root

- I have a splash page for my joomla 1.5 site, I don't want users to return to that page when clicking the default menu item, i want them directed to index.php instead of index.html. Any idea how I do this? I'm sure it's a easy edit to the config file but I'm not sure which line?
