leaving a monopolist browser architecture behind to run straight into the arms of another monopolist's claws...sounds like a great idea.
We, as webdesigners are responsible stuff displays correctly. For business purposes that means: you will have to live with whatever they bring out with a new version of IE + at least IE6&7, sad but the truth. For the gaming site I run I was able to get people to use browsers like opera (my baby
) and firefox, because of the nice little IE warning. But that is just not feasible for business type sites.
at least chrome uses the webkit engine, so it's not bringing another rendering engine to the table, thank god for that.

Probably not, IMO. No-one would use it if they did that.
However, they would save millions that they currently pay out to Mozilla, for example.
Mozilla currently gets over $50Mil/yr from ads that get displayed when someone uses google via Firefox. - Say no to Internet Explorer 6.

I don't think they would see that as a savings, because they support the open source community and chrome features Mozilla ware and is an open source browser too. So, I hope Chrome kicks ass, because it will show the power of open source and open the doors to even more open source projects.
Also, by the way - did anyone notice yahoo.com stop supporting up grading to IE7 on the top of their website - it now says -
Make Y! your home page Yahoo! recommends the new Firefox 3

So, it is not just Google who is looking at wiping out IE
As for that "Porn Feature" ??? CHROME has a similar feature - so, I don't think Google is worried about what IE is doing.

i think that most normal ppl l ( not web designers ) are ok with IE6 and IE7 cuz they dont really realize the difference between browsers .. and thats why alot of ppl still using IE instead of FF ..although FF is much much better
so i hope that wont be the same after google's browser ...i really hope that after releasing Chrome ppl will recognize the huge difference between IE and other browsers
one question .. why would google come up with a browser while FF is here .. i wanted the two companies to migrate
i really like FF and i dont want it to be less popular now
im downloading the new Chrome .. to test it
