Joomunity is already light years ahead of community builder and still has a lot of potential. The only drawback is that it's still in beta and many areas are lacking polish. I am currently implementing it on a social site I am building but it's not something I'm ready to show off. If you'd like to see Joomunity in action, you can either create an account at
www.joomunity.org
or login with their demo account. I can confirm that everything works the way it does on their site. And a bit of advice if you choose to install Joomunity. Make sure you have the latest version of PHP running on your host and you may have to install it manually since the auto-installers don't always work.
yea I think Jom Social has a far better future than joomunity because of its close tie with MyBlog which is the best of the best as far as bloggers go for Joomla....and blogs are the cornerstone of any social community
though..1) CB recently announced that Group Jive has been integrated into the current API which,, will ( if it all works) will put Community builder back on top
and
2) The peeps that make JUGA are also doing the mess around with their own concoction and they are the kings at making groups function as they should...
so .... which ever way you go.. soon... many options will be available for joomla users... I feel though,, the thing that makes a person choose this one over that one will depend on its tie in to a forum.... it will either be FB or PHPBB,,,,
"3. Template system should be awesome and very easy to use. We are already in talk with several template club that might produce native JomSocial template for their template. This is possible due to our own template override features."
Will RT take a slice of this?
