phpBB & Metamorph

    • Hi there Guys,

Someone in my uni just had their old joomla install collapse around their ears! And they've asked me to slap together a new one.

I'm going to go for Metamorph, becasue I love trying out each template here,

The question I have is, up until now, they have been using an external messageboard running phpBB, the first version I believe,
      www.podiumcommunications.com/lawsoc/

What's the best way to integrate this to the new site? I saw the rocketwerx bridge, but that's for phpbb3 yes?
And if I'm going to be upgrading from phpBB anyway, should I move their stuff to something else entirely! (They do still need private forums etc)

Any advice, I'd love, thanks guys

    • I guess you could start building the new site and in the meantime hope that this gets fnished soon: demo.rockettheme.com/phpbb3/

Then you could use phpbb3 and migrate the old DB with some tool i guess :)

    • So we're doinga new phpbb3 install for this.

If I install it now instead of waiting for RokBB, will this be an issue to add the theme etc to when RokBB comes out,
or will rokBB add-on to the current forum etc

EDIT: Found the answer. Just carry on, install & bridge phpBB3, and the RokBB is just a style/theme. (hope I read that right!)

    • Yes, these are theme/templates, whatever you want to call it, but they will also have a menu module as I understand it to pull in the Joomla menu items!

For those of you that are Rockettheme members, I've been posting my notes on templating some of these themes over as well as using RokBridge. I am able to atleast pull in the main Joomla Menu and borrow most of the css and html from the Rockettheme template. It might tide you over until the release of the RokBB club.

This isn't plug and play type installation here, but if you recognize any html and css stuff at all, you should be alright.
