Hi,
I've been trying to picked up by search engines. I want to change this:
www.hepcmo.org/index.php?option=com_cont...rticle&id=8&Itemid=9
To this:
www.hepcmo.org/services.htm , and I want to change all my pages. How do I do this?

I tried that, but when I go back to the website and click on a page, it's all scrambled, and the template disappears.
Why is that?

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the link. But after reading all the posts relating to this topic, I'm a bit frightened to try this. I'm just not in a position to lose all that I've done at this time, and I don't see any evidence of anyone being able to get back to the original point after finding the directions not working for them.
So here's my next question:
Will Google, Altavista, etc, pick up my website in time - even without the alterations?

- Google, MSN (Live) and Yahoo all have webmaster tools which you can register with to get your site listed. It takes time but usually works. I've always found Google to be the quickest and most effective.

- Apparently, my site is restricting them with a robot.txt file. I need to find out how to change that first.

Did you play with the default robot.txt file in any way? The stock file simply restricts a handful of directories as such:
User-agent: *
Disallow: /administrator/
Disallow: /cache/
Disallow: /components/
Disallow: /images/
Disallow: /includes/
Disallow: /installation/
Disallow: /language/
Disallow: /libraries/
Disallow: /media/
Disallow: /modules/
Disallow: /plugins/
Disallow: /templates/
Disallow: /tmp/
Disallow: /xmlrpc/
