Username and password do not match

Joomla! Administration Login does not let me log in anymore
and gives the message:
"Username and password do not match"
I could log in yesterday but not anymore today.
I understand it may have something to do with the expiration period
and that there is a fix for it. But I could not locate this fix.
Or maybe there is another solution.
Any ideas?
