    uninstalling plugin

Posted 16 years 6 months ago
    • When I transferred my site, one of my plugins stopped working (tabs and slides). I figured I would just reinstall it. But when i tried to do so from the backend I get this error:

Plugin Uninstall: Manifest File invalid or not found

Then I went into my CPanel of my webhosting and the folder is in there. So I deleted the folder. Tried again to install a fresh copy, then I get the following error:

      plugin already exists.

What is going on? It is either there or not but the above error msg are contradictory and not sure how ot proceed. Please help.

I am using J1.5 and the plugin is working fine on my PC development site.

    • You probably uninstalled it from the plug-in folder for the site, but did you check the plug-in folder in the admin folder as well?
    • Thanks,

    • thx for offering help but I am not understanding your questions. I tried to uninstall from the backend using the following steps:

      1. extensions manager -> install/uninstall -> select plugins tab ->
      2. click the radio button next to the jws_tab pugin
      3. select uninstall from the upper right hand corner of the screen

Then I get the error that it does not exist. I noticed that the plugin is not correctly installed when it was transfered as it is the only one that does not show an author and other details. Plus it does not work when used in a content article.

Is there another place to uninstall as I am not sure what you mean by plugins folder. I've completely deleted the plugin folder when I kept getting plugin exists during a fresh install.

I've checked for a left-over *.php or .xml file that may still be poiinting to this pluign but none exist.

      Pls help

    • Sorry, there's no plug-in folder in the administrator folder.

Have you checked the tmp and language folders?
    • Thanks,

    • could it be a permissions issue - if it worked on a local server but not online then it is most likely that the permissions are not set correctly.

Alternatively, check there is no server php.ini conflict - for example "smart quotes" on/off sometimes casues a problem.

    • I have full 777 permssion set on all folders. This is the only plugin that didn't transfer correctly and won't install or uninstall whatever it says exists.

There is no folder containing this baby anywhere on the server.

Regarding the php.ini file, where would that file be as I don't see it either.

I thought of deleting the entire site and reinstalling, but there has been too much customization and components installed to do so just for one plugin. However, I need this plugin badly.

the plugin in question is jws-tabs and slides

      thx
