    JomSocial opens to general public

    • Take JomSocial for a spin, NOW!

Posted by: azrul in release on Nov 3, 2008

Finally, we reach the next stage of our development, public access to our development site!!

For some of you, you might already have access to this site. It isn't really a very well kept secret, but we never publish it. Keeping it secret-ish helps us to tweak certain things while slowly adding new user to test the system. As the number of user increases, we could slowly monitor the system for any performance issues and address them as we go along.

There are still a couple of things that need to be done and we would still tweak a few things before the actual release and you might still see some major enhancement on the final release.

So, please create an account there (valid email required!), login, upload your avatar and take it for a spin. Do report any bugs found by writing to us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Tell us what you think ok!

Of, I almost forgot, the magic URL is dev.jomsocial.com : ) and do add me as your friend there!

See you there, guys! Awesome component. Hopefully Rockettheme will do some templates for JS. ;D

    • The price is $149 for pro and $99 for standard. I'm sticking to CB for now, until JS gets more of a start up.

    • JReviews and those components of a similar ilk are $99'ish, which seems a little closer to the sweet spot to me....but I am just a dumb economist, so what do I know? ;)

    • I've just started playing (actually $99 for pro version at the moment) and it looks lovely. I don't actually need it, but I like playing.

I'm a little surprised that I'm having to pay VAT to someone in Malaysia as I don't think he'll be declaring it in my country and whenever I invoice someone overseas, I don't have to add VAT - maybe the law is different over there .. but that's another thing. Do we pay VAT or sales tax to Andy???

It does look lovely .. I hope they keep doing what they're doing.
