    How do USPS calculate weight?

Posted 16 years 4 months ago
    • I got an opportunity to sell a brand of computer bags in Europe from the manufacturer, but as the freight from Norway to European countriess would be at approx. 75$ which would be way too high. But I might have found a possible solution on the problem by using Shipwire in the US for storage and packaging, and ship the goods with USPS. The problem with this would be if USPS calculate the weight from the volume of the package instead of the physical weight.

I have been to their website to check out the prices, and when I set it to send a package to European countries you only put in the weight of the parcel, so if I'm not completely making a fool of myself this would indicate that they use the physical weight of the parcel.

Is this so? Could I really be this lucky?

And for you people living in the EU: Do you think a total price of 105 euros, the bag and freight, is too high? (This price would is excl. any VAT and customs.)

      Regards,

Thor (and I'm still not the God of Thunder  ... yet )

    • Price is base on package weight and destination.

    • Thank you, thank you, thank you.

You've just confirmed my assumption, and this could end with me start selling these bags. The size of the boxes will be well inside the required measuredments, so it's great to hear USPS doesn't act like the Norwegian Postal Service.

And yet another thank your for your help.
