    • The advantage is in pricing and user base, CB is (still) free and still has a larger userbase, but if you want to use it for a paid user subscription site you need another component costing $100. While the cost of Jomsocial is still $150. A lot of people are moving to Jomsocial and there are many positive reactions to it. There are however several items still missing that are a pre for it to become the major community building component. One major item that is missing is a captcha, which is kind of holding me back in using it. I have already bought it, because I could get it at a discount. What is also bugging me is that there is no real documentation available, but their user forum takes care of a lot of that.
I am only wondering what the new version is going to have for extra options. Several developers have stepped up to develop plugins and mods for Jomsocial, so I believe it is really gaining in momentum.

The beauty of JomSocial is that unlike CB, it doesn't rule your DB and take over your user tables and the like; JomSocial using the core J! user tables, so you could simply use any Joomla login module that offers captcha - no special login module required. :)

Azrul is releasing a major update mid-Feb, which will inclue:

-full content reporting features, any addons can add a reporting feature to their apps
      - enhanced privacy control
      - more developer API
      - more control over point system
      - new templates
      - improved group features
      - many more...phpbb3 plugins should be out soon, considering SVN access for upgrades, more external SEo support (sh404, et al), etc, etc, etc....just not enough hours in the day. :)
