I also have ever got that problem and like Peter said, I made Javascript disabled in my browser for a while and forgot to enable it. Then the backend appear like yours.
And after enable it again, all worked well.

Yes I can see the top bar in IE ;D ;D ;D ;D , I use Firefox like default browser. Today I can say I LOVE IE (but only for today).
I just don't understand why I can't see the top bar in FF only with this site and all seems good in the backend of my other joomla sites...
Yes, javascript is enabled (thanks Peter and Arifin
) in FF.
If I have too difficulties I will reinstall FF.
When I will come back from my work I'll tell you more.

- I have had a similar problem with FF a few times and I believe it was just a matter of deleting all off line files and clear cookies, cache and log in again.

I will try this too Thomas. Actually I'm at my work and all looks fine with FF and IE. I Just cannot edit the modules because all them are locked. I don't know if this is a security question because I'm not using the same IP.

I tried but it doesn't work Damo. Then I deleted the DB and made the reinstallation of one backup. I lost few members of my site but I can email them to subcribe another time.
All seems to be ok now
I was afraid to loose all my work in this portal but I'm alive and the site too.
Sorry to push the alarm like this but it was a nightmare (the Freddy Kruger of Joomla visited me yesterday
). However I think it's a good topic because another people can experiment this issue with their browser and I learned a lot with all your help guys!

I think you might need to perform a 'Global checkin'. Look under the 'System' menu item and choose 'Global Checkin' in the Joomla Admin control panel.
