Granular access control to submit content

I am looking for a way to have more control on registered site members submitting content such as articles. I wish to restrict them to say a section such as "news" but not allow them to post content to a section that is setup to display content on my homepage.
My admins will approve all content making any changes before posting to the site. It really is a matter of granting granular rights to only certain sections or categories that they can submit to.
Has anyone used the extension Joomla Content Access Control - extensions.joomla.org/extensions/access-...control/5986/details . What are your thoughts.
