Website shows white page - Backend OK...???

Posted 18 years 4 months ago
    • New challenge...

I imported a new database and sites files. I get the backend control panal but the website is a blank white page. I've put all the appropriate info into the Joomla 'configuration.php. files.

I'm running Gallery2 and SMF. Are there anythings that I need to do to them?

      Thanks for the help!

    • Does this help ?

      [from forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,70982.msg372894.html#msg372894 ]

I had a similar problem recently. A component (Joomla - SMF Bridge) had patched my template index.php with code that looked for some SMF stuff. When I uninstalled the component I forgot to un-patch the file and I got the blank screen with just the header files in the source.

Try changing the template the site is using to see if that helps. If one of the default templates works you can either trace the fault in your friend's template or leave it for them to find when they get back ;)

    • Thanks Yves. I'll try that. If it doesn't work, I'll need to restore.

      Thanks man!

I opened the bridge to SMF and pressed that button to relink the absolute path. Doh!

    • Thanks Mike, but I'm not completely out of the woods yet...

Yves, I have the same white page with Gallery 2. I tried the bridge for that. It was set for the local Joomla server. I tried to 'resave' with the correct info and the admin cp page went white too.

Do I need to go into the G2 tables and edit them correctly?

    • Yeah, I'm going to have to restore the old site.

In the meantime, Tonight, I'll try deleting the Gallery2 and SMF bridges before I export the database. Maybe installing the bridges AFTER I get the Joomla site running.

I'll be in touch. Thanks for the help, folks!

    • Well, I triedto install Gallery 2 directly, rather than as part of the database alreay. I found out that my server (shared hosyting needs 16 MB and above. It's only set up with 8 MB right now. Gallery 2 gave me a warning while I tried ti install. Oh well... back to the old site for now.
