    • I know this is a template club but it's also full of some of the most knowledgeable people on the internet so if it's ok I'd like to ask a question that is a bit off topic.

      I have a hosted domain, devisionllc.com plus wiwebdevelopment.com and wiwebdeveloper.com. I have the latter two parked and a 301 redirect to devisionllc.com

      Will the two parked domains get indexed in any way?

      Any thoughts are appreciated.

    • If you have content on them, then yes, they'll get indexed.

      However, I've just checked on wiwebdeveloper.com and wiwebdevelopment.com and I get nothing.

      So, I checked the headers and the HTTP header termination string wasn't found.

      It is important to clarify what you mean by parking. As it is now, neither of your domains are indexed at Google and without going to deep it could be that Google has had them but taken them off or it could be that you bought them yesterday.

      If you mean by parking, having the domains replicate your content just on the new domains names, then yes they will get indexed but the practise of replicating content on other domains names is somethign I stay away from, only because, well, there is the potential for getting penalised.

      My advice, if I have a domain name that I want to have associated with a website is to create a new account for it and put in a html 301 redirect. I like the idea of it having a seperate account and monitoring what the site gets but there are loads of other ways you could do this.

    • I must have been adjusting the redirect when you checked. I have a 301 redirect from both parked domains to devisionllc.com I can't imagine they would be indexed then since there is a redirect in place. I will not publish duplicate content since I know it is frowned upon. I guess I'm a bit disappointed then because the parked domain names are of no value at least to the extent I am understanding since the only way they would be of use is if the user typed the exact domain name in the address bar. It's too bad since the domain names are so keyword rich for my location. Any ideas to utilize the parked domain?

    • Maybe make them a landing page saying something like:

      "site2.com is an affiliate of site1.com. Click here to enter site1.com now!"

      and maybe have your logo there too.

      This would give a page that would be indexed and may explain to the user why the domain name is changing over to the first site in the url. You could even have meta key words on the landing page too.

      This is just a quick thought, I'm definitely no expert here.

    • I think this is the code for a meta redirect after so many seconds. It goes in the head.
      <META HTTP-EQUIV="refresh" content="3;URL=http://www.mysite.com">

      where the 3 is the number of seconds to wait to before redirect.

      Again, not 100% on how "professional" this tactic is, I've used it for college club websites that were previously hosted on school server space that only allowed an html file to be uploaded...so I put the redirect in and the built the site somewhere else.
