I`ll do that.
I made the change and uploaded it like you said, so that I can upgrade Joomla without loosing the edits. But it doesn`t change when I do it like that. I had to edit the original file in components/com_content/views/category/tmpl in order to see the change.

Mmmm, I'll have to try this and see if I can get it to work with the override. There may be some limitations as to what can be changed in modules and components for an override.
Nonetheless, I'm glad you got it working like you wanted and I hope you got some FireBug practice too!

So for overrides, only items in the tmpl/ directory can be overriden. Other files are not allowed to be. I think this is an issue of playing with what files to copy over for that, as the one that needed changing is in that directory.
Instead of copying over the whole thing, maybe just try copying over the files in that directory???
